My name is Phillip Butler and I will be joining the Safa British School PE team this August 2022. I am very excited to become a part of such a welcoming community and am looking forward to sharing my PE expertise with you all. I am new to Dubai this year, having spent the past year as Head of PE in an Abu Dhabi school.
Sport has always been a huge passion of mine. As a child, I played a range of sports including football, cricket and rugby. Being from an Irish family, I was introduced to Gaelic Football at a young age and very quickly found a love for the sport. At the age of 18, I had the honour of being selected for the Senior London Gaelic Football Team. A personal highlight was being part of the team that reached the Connaught Final, which led to playing at Croke Park, Dublin (The third largest stadium in Europe). To date, this has been the greatest achievement for any London team. I have really enjoyed continuing my Gaelic football journey over the past year in Abu Dhabi and I hope the skills, lessons and experiences I have gained from this sport are ones that can pass on to the students at Safa British School.
I am from London, UK. This is where I completed my Bachelor of Science Degree in 2018 achieving Upper-Second Class Honours, gaining QTS the following year. London is also where I began my teaching career. I have taught PE across all key stages in outstanding British schools before moving to the UAE in August 2021. My passion for PE has continued in the UAE where I have been given the opportunity to continue to deliver a fun and challenging PE experience for all pupils, striving to inspire a love of sport and a healthy lifestyle.
