Caolan Henrdon

My name is Caolán Hendron and I am delighted to say that I will be your teacher in year 2. I have been living and teaching in Dubai for the last 2 years and I am very much looking forward to starting at Safa British School as I have heard lots about your amazing school community.

About Me

As you may have guessed from my name, I am from a country called Ireland. More specifically, I come from a small village in county Armagh called Maghery. We are very lucky to come from such a beautiful place with lots of greenery and spectacular views of Lough Neagh (the largest lake in Ireland). I come from a family of 4 children, of which I am the oldest.

I hope this gives you some insight into my teaching career, personality and what it might be like to be in my classroom. My main priority is to create a safe environment where children can reach exceptional progress and develop their passion for learning. I hope you are as excited as I am for next year and I look forward to meeting you all in August.

My Experience

After finishing secondary school, I studied at Ulster University where I completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Music. During this time, I had begun observing some of the amazing work a local music therapist had completed in my Mum’s school and so after completion of my degree, I moved to Edinburgh (Scotland) where I studied for a masters in Music Therapy at Queen Margaret University. After qualifying as a music therapist, I then returned to work in Ireland for over 3 years. Much of my music therapy work took place in schools, and so eventually I made the decision to return to university to complete my PGCE and became a qualified primary school teacher after seeing the amazing impact many of the teachers had with their students every day.

From a young age, I have always been involved in school environments, working as a classroom assistant, instrumental tutor, music therapist and now as a classroom teacher. My Mum has had a huge impact on my career as she was principal in a SEN school for over 17 years in my local town Armagh. This further inspired me to pursue a career in teaching.

I have many interests and hobbies outside of school. I love to play Gaelic (Irish) football and have joined a local team called Dubai Celts. We play tournaments all over the Middle East. I also love playing music, mainly traditional Irish music with my friends. We regularly play together in Dubai at events and I always look forward to getting home in the summer time to play with all of my friends at the various festivals across Ireland.
