My name is Rebecca Dixon and I am from Dublin, Ireland. I have been working in primary schools for over ten years and I have always wanted to pursue a career in education. This is my eighth year teaching in Dubai and my fourth year working at Safa British School.
I am a positive, hard-working, caring teacher and strive to provide a learning environment in my classroom where children feel they are safe, their ideas are valued and their determination and contribution is recognised. My teaching philosophy cultivates growth mind-set, encouraging children to confront challenges, view their failures as a springboard for success and develop a passion for learning.
Regarding, ‘the me you can’t see’, in my spare time, I enjoy socialising with friends, keeping fit and healthy and travelling to new places.
I started on my career path to becoming a teacher in London, where I completed my PGCE in Primary Teaching in Kingston University. After qualifying, I spent a further two years teaching in London in a very multi-cultural and ethnically diverse school. My time spent there provided me with the opportunity to work with an incredibly wide range of children from across the world and gave me valuable experiences working with students learning English as a second language.
I am delighted to have this opportunity to teach in Year 5 and I look forward to continuing my career with the Safa British School family.
