I helped my department achieve the highest-ever cohort of students opting to take History at GCSE at my first school. Following my first year leading the Year 9 curriculum, the cohort increased by over 50 to 180 during my first year. To see such widespread enthusiasm for history had me beaming with pride.

About Me

Away from teaching, my main hobbies are football and music. I enjoy playing football, and I’m a massive Liverpool FC fan. I hope to meet like-minded Reds in Dubai. Music-wise, I like a bit of everything, but I especially enjoy Britpop from the 90s and modern alternative rock. My favourite bands are Oasis and Foals. My education has seen me travel across some of the major cities in the UK. I completed my BA Honours at Northumbria University in Newcastle before moving on to Leeds. Here, I continued my studies in History, gaining a Master of Arts qualification. Finally, I moved back to Liverpool, the city closest to my hometown, to complete my PGCE.

My Experience

My love for history stems from appreciating the cross-curricular knowledge and skills it provides. I see history as being a facilitator subject that allows one to become a master of various domains. Whether it be analysing data to understand the rise and fall of governments, identifying how technological developments have shaped the modern world, or how scientific discoveries have allowed humans to combat deadly diseases. The opportunity to enlighten young people with this perspective and inspire a sense of curiosity about the world drove me to become a history teacher. The chance to do this abroad in a new culture such as Dubai only amplified my enthusiasm for teaching history.
