I am passionate about working with students with learning differences, with a focus on Autism. Experienced in working with kindergarten students to young adults with educational, behavioral, emotional or social difficulties. Teaching and encouraging independence in Students of Determination is my focus.
I completed my Psychology Honors Degree in the UK and immediately went into a career supporting individuals with complex needs and learning differences.
I moved to Dubai 8 Years ago and have been privileged to have worked with so many wonderful, unique children during this time.
I recently completed my PG-Cert in Education (Inclusion and Special Educational Needs) at the University of
Birmingham.
I am from Gloucestershire in the UK and I am a ‘home girl’, so I love visiting my family and spending time with my new nephew. I enjoy travelling and have been on some incredible journeys since moving to Dubai.
After completing my Psychology degree, I worked in the SEN department of a UK college, working with young adults with a variety of different learning needs including behavioral, emotional, physical and social difficulties. I helped to create an easy transition process for young adults from college to employment, work experience placements or further education, whilst enhancing their independence.
When I moved to Dubai, I taught kindergarten students who were enrolled in an innovative inclusion program for children with autistic spectrum disorders, partnered with a mainstream school in Dubai.
For the next 5 years I taught students aged 5-18 with mild to moderate learning challenges in a school which aimed to bridge the gap between special needs centers and mainstream schools.
I recently started my role as Primary SENCo at SBS and I am so proud to be a part of such an inclusive school with extensive provisions for SoDs.
