My name is Grace Desmond and I am SO excited to teach Year Three this year at Safa British School. I have been travelling from London, England to Dubai for many years with my family and I’ve just recently moved here with my husband and son.
Away from the classroom, spending time with my family is important to me. My husband and I have three children. My two eldest (Stephen, 20 and Ruby-Louise, 18) live and work in London. My youngest child, Stanley (16) , lives here in Dubai and is looking forward to a new life here. I am very excited to be starting the next chapter of my teaching career in Safa British School, and I look forward to becoming an active member of the SBS community.
For me, working with children is a passion first and a profession next. With 15 years of experience in the education sector, I earned a bachelor’s degree seven years ago in Education and Well Being at the University and College of London (UCL), and have had the opportunity to teach in both Key Stage One and Lower Key Stage Two. I have had experience of leading subjects such as PE and English and have had the pleasure of being a phase leader in both Key Stages.
As a teacher, I am committed to creating a fun, safe, and inclusive learning environment for all students. I aim to give children as many learning opportunities and experiences as possible to engage, inspire and empower them to become lifelong learners and critical thinkers.
I believe that every child has the potential to succeed and as an educator, it is my job to help them reach their full potential. My ethos is based around guiding children to become independent, resilient learners who are not afraid to take risks and are confident to take on a challenge.
