I moved to Dubai with my wife and two children in 2014, and as well as working within the busy international school environment, I have been lucky enough to continue working with a variety of colleagues across a range of schools, recently delivering the National Qualification for Senior Leaders for colleagues across Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The opportunity of moving to Safa to work with a team in establishing and growing the secondary school, was an opportunity that I could not pass up. The day-to-day practice of working within an established ‘community school’, resonates deeply with my core values of student-centric education.
BSC Geography | PGCE in Secondary Education | NPQH
After graduating in 2001 with a degree in Geography, I went on to teach in a large comprehensive school where I stayed for 14 years! I made the move into leadership as a Head of Geography, before moving into senior leadership as the leader for Teaching and Learning across the school. This was the start of my own interest in the impact of educational research and the importance of evidence-based initiatives within schools.
As a Geographer… it is always the fieldtrips! I have had the opportunity to take trips to the far reaches of the British Isles, Ireland and the slightly more exotic Borneo, Brunei and Japan. Seeing students outside of the classroom environment, taking part in community action projects or applying their class-skills in ‘real life’ scenarios always fills me with a sense of pride.
