About Me

Hello! My name is Aoife Rodgers and I am excited to be joining you at Safa British School in August. I am from the city of Derry in Ireland, and I have been living in the UAE for 2 years now.

I have always been very interested in learning and education, and I moved to Glasgow in Scotland to study an undergraduate degree in Education at the University of Glasgow. While I was there, I had the opportunity to go to Australia to study abroad. I lived in Sydney for 7 months, and was able to do lots of travelling around Australia and New Zealand. This made me realise how much I loved to travel and live abroad, and I knew that I would love to have this opportunity again. I completed my undergraduate degree in 2019, and moved home to study a postgraduate degree in Psychological Sciences, as I wanted to better understand how people learn and develop. While I was studying this degree, I worked as a supply teacher in schools around Belfast, and then I took on a role in a SEN learning environment once I graduated. I loved these experiences living closer to home, but once I completed my studies, I decided to explore new opportunities and continue to develop my own learning.

I moved to Dubai in August 2021, and have been working as a Year 5 teacher in a British Curriculum School here for the past 2 years. This experience has taught me a lot of valuable skills, many of which I hope to bring to my role at Safa. In my teaching, I strive to create a learning environment that nurture independent learners, critical thinkers, and resilient individuals. I hope that my own enthusiasm for learning will create life-long learners of my pupils.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy exploring new hikes and wadis in the UAE, travelling and playing Gaelic football. I am a member of my local Gaelic football team here, and often compete in tournaments around the UAE.
I look forward to meeting you all in August.
