Not only can I remember lots of occasions that make me really proud and happy that I chose this career but I am still building on them. I have led numerous skiing and watersports trips both from the UK and here in Dubai. Seeing the children in a different environment, having new experiences and a fabulous time, really is very rewarding. But leading teams and giving children the opportunity to participate in competitions is equally as rewarding. So is teaching day to day and watching children’s faces when they finally master something. “

About Me

I moved to the Middle East in 2001 with my Husband and have worked at just three different schools in all that time. I believe PE should be for all regardless of ability so I have led competitive and recreational clubs. As PE teachers, our role is to encourage everyone to become active and hopefully remain active throughout life. I have loved teaching PE as we have a lot of fun whilst we are learning. Outside of teaching I played Netball in various leagues also playing for Abu Dhabi in the Intergulf annual tournament, ran a few half marathons and became an avid golfer. It is a rare weekend I am not on the golf course!

My Experience

Qualification: B.Ed. (Hons) Physical Education & Science

After graduating from Liverpool John Moores University with a degree in Physical Education and Science, I began my teaching career at a high school in Middlesbrough. I stayed here for 5 years gaining valuable experience by not only becoming the District coach for Hockey and Netball but also becoming Head of Year. I then moved to the Lake District to teach for a year before taking a job at The British School Al Khubairat in Abu Dhabi. After taking some time out to recharge my batteries travelling around South East Asia, I returned to the Middle East teaching Year 5 and then Year 2. Although I learnt a lot as a class teacher and thoroughly enjoyed it, I really missed teaching PE and taking teams so I joined Safa British School as a PE teacher in 2016. I returned home to Wales for a year but found I missed Safa and the weather too much!
