My name is Annie Ryan and I am very excited to be joining the Year 1 teaching team in Safa British School this year.
I am from a small country village in County Down, Ireland. My home village, called Burren, is nestled in the Mourne mountains and is very different to Dubai! In my free time I keep myself very busy in Dubai! I love going to the gym and playing sports, especially Gaelic football and padel. I play Gaelic (Irish) football with Dubai Celts club. I enjoy meeting with friends to play music and I am a member of the Dubai Comhaltas, a group who meet to play traditional Irish music together. I love walking in the evenings at the beach or close to my home here in Dubai (and you might notice me occasionally checking how many steps I’ve clocked on my watch). I cannot wait for an amazing year at Safa British School and am so excited to meet my new class and get to know the Safa community
I have been living and teaching in Dubai for two years now. This will be my fourth year teaching Year 1. I attended St. Mary’s University in Belfast where I studied for four years to become a teacher. I graduated with a Bachelor of Education in Primary Teaching with Music, specialising in Early Years and Key Stage 1 education. I absolutely love music and taught music before becoming a primary school teacher. Upon graduating I began my teaching journey in a small school in the village of Kilcoo, not far from my family home in Ireland. I taught Primary 2, which is equivalent to Year 1, and I developed a great passion for promoting music and sports during my time there.
