My name is Amina Akhtar and I was born and raised in the heart of London.
Finally, ‘the me you can’t see’! I am a mother of two young boys, who loves cooking and learning new languages. Dubai is home, I have previously lived in Dubai, even experienced life in Dubai during the pandemic (remember that!)
Really looking forward to meeting and working with the amazing students at Safa British School.
My background is originally in Banking and Finance but, I have always had a passion for teaching. In 2014 I completed my PGCE with Mathematics at The University of East London. I have spent most of my 10 years of teaching working in Outstanding schools leading different areas of the school.
Diversity is amazing, and thanks to my experiences of firstly growing up in London and then working with pupils from all different backgrounds, I am very familiar with the diversity that Dubai has to offer which really does remind me of my first home which is the UK.
Over the last decade my professional focus has been to provide quality education whilst fostering a caring culture that empowers students to reach their full potential and also develop them as individuals.
I thrive in ensuring every single one of my lessons are fun, educational, interactive and are lessons children are proud to attend. A question I regularly ask myself is “would I be happy if my child experienced this lesson?”
